ted to France just before World War One. Then, these songs became Bielka's, who, in her turn, passed them on to her daughter, following the usual custom in Russia. Little by little, Bielka and Souliko, as they became professionals widened the range of their songs : russian, georgian, ukrainian, yiddish, judeo-spanish from the shores of the Black Sea and even songs from gypsy tradition... because « as the tree grows from its roots, its branches spread all over the space; if a bird comes to alight on them, this tree won't ask this bird where it comes from. It will simply listen to its song ».

Nursery rhymes and lullabies Gypsies

Coming from the deepest feelings of peoples, Bielka and Souliko'songs always draw their themes from popular traditions and speak of their immense wisdom. For these singers, singing is a sacred activity : it allows people to feel a link between them which unites them beyond their differences. Thanks to a universal language ignorant of any borders : the language of emotion.
An excellent version of "Göttingen", (BARBARA / Editions Métropolitaines), sung by Bielka and Souliko.
